The Mahamana Bal Niketan was started in 1986 in Laxmanpuri for the welfare of children of leprosy patients. Presently 17 students – in the age group of 5 to 20 years – are the inmates of the Bal Niketan. The Bal Niketan Samiti maintains the hostel for the adopted students. The Samiti meets all the expenses of the students including their education. Some of the children from Bal Niketan have completed their school education and are now gainfully employed. It is a matter of great pride that amongst the students of Mahamana Vidya Mandir, some of the students securing the highest marks in the high school examination belong to Bal Niketan. In the last few years some destitute children have been admitted in the hostel. A permanent hostel is now being constructed in Gomti Nagar for children.
